State of the Art Pipe Services
Most drain and sewer problems are underground and invisible until they cause a failure. CCTV pipe inspection lets you see exactly what's happening inside your pipes — without digging. We provide detailed video surveys, written condition reports, and honest recommendations for residential and commercial properties across Johannesburg.
When Should You Get a Pipe Inspection?
- Before purchasing a property — a CCTV drain survey reveals hidden pipe damage that could cost thousands to repair
- After recurring blockages — to identify the root cause rather than just clearing symptoms repeatedly
- Before and after renovations — to check that builders haven't damaged underground services
- For insurance or dispute evidence — video footage documenting pipe condition at a specific date
- Annual maintenance for commercial properties — to stay ahead of problems and budget for repairs
- When you notice unexplained damp, sinkholes, or ground settlement near sewer lines
- Before a builder's defects warranty expires on a new property
How a CCTV Pipe Inspection Works
Book Your Inspection
Contact us with the property address and reason for inspection. We'll confirm a time slot, usually within 24 to 48 hours for non-emergency surveys.
CCTV Camera Survey
We insert a high-resolution camera through an existing access point — manhole, cleanout, or inspection eye — and record the full length of the pipe system.
Condition Report
You receive a written report covering pipe material, joint condition, gradient, root intrusion, cracks, and any structural defects — supported by video evidence.
Recommendations
Based on findings, we advise on immediate repairs, scheduled maintenance, or monitoring. For property purchases, the report can inform price negotiations.
Pipe Inspection FAQ
What does a CCTV drain inspection involve?
A small, waterproof camera is inserted into the pipe through an existing access point. It travels the length of the pipe, recording high-definition video and noting the distance from the entry point. The technician watches the feed in real time, marking defects as they appear. You get a video file and a written condition report afterwards.
How much does a CCTV pipe inspection cost?
Pricing depends on the length of pipe to be inspected and the number of access points. A basic residential inspection covering the main sewer lateral (typically 15 to 30 metres) is the most affordable option. Larger properties, commercial buildings, or full-site surveys cost more. We provide a fixed quote before starting.
Do you need to dig to inspect the pipes?
No. CCTV inspection is a non-invasive, trenchless method. The camera enters through existing manholes, cleanouts, or inspection eyes. No excavation is required for the survey itself. If a repair is needed based on the findings, we'll recommend the least disruptive repair method — which in many cases is also trenchless (pipe relining).
Should I get a drain survey before buying a house?
Strongly recommended, especially for properties over 20 years old or those with large trees near sewer lines. A pre-purchase CCTV survey costs a fraction of what a collapsed sewer line costs to replace. The video evidence can also be used to negotiate the purchase price if defects are found.
What is pipe relining and when is it needed?
Pipe relining installs a new, jointless liner inside the existing damaged pipe — without digging it up. It's suitable for pipes with cracks, root intrusion at joints, and minor displacement. It's not suitable for fully collapsed pipes or pipes with severe bellies. We assess relining suitability during the CCTV inspection and recommend it only when it's the right solution for your specific situation.
